Hi {firstname},

Can all paintings be classified as either figurative or abstract? Are there only two types of art? No! I think there is a third kind. I call it "surprise art". It's a way of painting where you don't know in advance what the result will be. And often, the result is quite surprising.

That is true, for example, of symmetrical painting. Recently, I experimented with that technique. You put some paint on a sheet of paper and then fold it in two. When you open the sheet, you discover the result. In my latest video I show you several examples of pictures that I made in this way.

One of the advantages of this technique is that it enables everyone, young and old, to create beautiful pictures.

Have you heard of the "Keukenhof"? It's a big park, not far from Amsterdam, where you can walk amid 7 million flowers in the spring.

But this park had to remain closed last year because of the pandemic. This year, they were hoping to allow visitors starting on March 20 but the third wave, which hit the Netherlands like many other countries, made that impossible.

Nevertheless, the tulips, daffodils and hyacinths are in bloom like every year. Fortunately, the people who prepared the park for the public did not work in vain. They made several videos where you can see the huge flowerbeds without having to travel.

Take the virtual tour! It's nice to see nature when you are stuck at home.

Because you are a Pro

In honour of the Keukenhof, this colouring page with a bunch of tulips is free for all our members (until the end of April).

Pssst... Kids can colour the tulips as a gift for Mother's Day!
