Or are they angry?

Hi {firstname},

Halloween is a time of year that can be full of emotions for kids. The anticipation, the fun of putting on a disguise, maybe a bit of fright, the joy of receiving candy, the frustration of not being allowed to eat it all that same night,... It's not always easy for young kids.

To control their emotions, children must be able to recognize them and to verbalize them. Here is a project that allows you to talk about various types of emotions based on Halloween pictures painted with wine corks.

The downloadable document contains a whole page of sample pumpkins with faces that express various emotions.

Another way to represent emotions on the faces of pumpkins (without needing to carve real pumpkins) is to make little pumpkins from egg carton.

Young kids are not able yet to verbalize their emotions. They need to learn to recognize and understand them in order to be able to manage them effectively. Here is a short article that suggests how an adult can help them do that.
