II hope that you spent a pleasant holiday season and that 2024 is off to a good start for you. I realize it is too late to wish you a happy new year, but the time is right to send you wishes for Chinese New Year (lunar new year), which starts in a few days, on February 10th.

That date is the start of the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is one of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac, and the only one that represents a mythical animal. According to the horoscope, people born under the sign of the dragon, i.e. in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, etc., are intelligent, powerful and lucky, but may lack humility...

For the first project of this year, I have for you a dragon puppet made with a small paper bag. I made a dragon with fiery colours, but I also show an example in other colours and I encourage you to follow you own preference!

Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally end 15 days later with the Lantern Festival. On our website page dedicated to Chinese New Year you will find several lantern projects, like this one here:

But before the lantern festival, let's celebrate Valentine's Day! For children, it is a perfect opportunity to make pretty cards for their friends, or a little gift for their parents. You will find lots of ideas on the Animaplates website. Here are a few examples:
