Wouldn’t it be great to see what the world was like hundreds of millions of years ago, when dinosaurs were walking on the Earth that hadn’t been touched by humans yet?

Cinema has tried to provide us with that experience. The most famous movie in that respect is probably Jurassic Park, based on Michael Crichton’s book.

But nothing beats life-size replicas if you want to have a good idea of how big these early reptiles really were. And for that, there is no better place than Prehistoric World near Morrisburg, Ontario (Canada).

Situated in a forest not far from the Saint Lawrence river and Upper Canada Village, Prehistoric World is a beautifully maintained tourist attraction where young and old can stroll along a 1 kilometre long trail and admire full-size sculptures of dinosaurs ranging from the small reptiles of the Triassic period (252 to 201 million years ago) to the gigantic animals of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods (ending 66 million years ago).

Signs along the way give the name of each dinosaur and provide interesting facts about each animal. Older kids and adults who are fascinated by dinosaurs will really enjoy these (although some texts were hard to read) whereas younger kids and everyone else will just marvel at the artfully constructed and freshly painted sculptures while enjoying a leisurely walk through the beautiful natural environment.
