For butterfly lovers

Caterpillars and butterflies are two forms of the same animal, but how different they are! I find butterflies so beautiful. Caterpillars are known to eat leaves of lettuce and many other plants, but do you know how butterflies feed?

Some time ago, I filmed butterflies in Montreal and in several butterfly gardens elsewhere and I combined the best images into a video. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it now, you won't be disappointed!

There are several butterfly related projects on the Animaplates website. Here are three ways to represent colourful butterflies, with paper and with coffee filters.

If you make one (or more) of these projects with a group this summer, display them on a mural full of colours!

A good teaching resource that talks about the metamorphosis of caterpillar to butterfly is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
