Christmas Elf
Make an elf that you can put on a shelf or in your Christmas tree! This Christmas Elf is easy to make and could be the start of your own Christmas tradition.
Elves have always inspired the popular imagination. They were known as (or assimilated with) fairies, huldra (in Scandinavia) or dwarfs (in Germany). In the twentieth century, elves re-entered literature in the fantasy genre; the prime example is the Middle Earth world of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Christmas elves are a fairly recent tradition, originating in the United States towards the end of the nineteenth century. These elves help Santa Claus in his workshop at the North Pole.
