Tissue Paper Stained Glass

Did you know that white glue becomes transparent as it dries?

I have no idea why that happens, but I find it very useful when gluing things together, because if you spill a bit of glue it doesn’t show. And you can also use this fact to get very nice stained glass effects.

To make a stained glass picture, just dilute the white glue with a bit of water and use the mixture to glue together pieces of tissue paper.  You can either cut small pieces of tissue paper with scissors, or carefully tear them, that gives a very nice effect.

When you have assembled a large enough “pane”, frame it with a shape cut from black construction paper.

For this Easter project, I have drawn and cut out the shape of a decorated Easter egg. It’s beautiful when you hang it in front of a window.  To see the video and get the free document with patterns, click here.
