Today was the first of my two days of workshops at the Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa.  And what a wonderful day I had, helping young and not so young to create the lighthouse of their dreams. (You too can make the Animaplates lighthouse craft !) I have seen all kinds of colours, striped, squared, dotted, swirled, shaded and more!

I had the help of two super efficient volunteers: Minji and Eugene. Minji arranged the pieces for the top of the lighthouse in an attractive and artistic way that delighted the children.

When the kids come in for the workshop, we give them a t-shirt to protect their clothes from the paint. The first step was to paint the base of the lighthouse. Then they had to choose the colour they wanted for the lantern and for the roof. Finally, the kids could decorate their lighthouse with little flowers, stars, hearts, etc. Some parents couldn’t resist and made their own lighthouse… and I always like seeing that!

Enjoy the pictures of tiny hands that sometimes have a hard time holding a paint brush. A picture is truly worth a thousand words.

Parents and children left us some comments… read and enjoy! Today we had visitors from Montreal, Mascouche, Val d’Or and as far away as Grand-Sault, New Brunswick.
